Monaco

The Monaco has been designed for comfort and mobility with independence at the forefront of its design.

It was designed to encourage independence in sitting by supporting the body and encouraging the users to stand up independently with little assistance. The Monaco chair provides stability in sitting without compromising function. Early use of the Monaco can reduce dependence on carers for mobilisation.

Together with adjustable back recline, waterfall back, optional lateral supports and pressure management materials, a high level of positioning and pressure redistribution is achievable without compromising the function or independence of the user. The Monaco can accommodate those with tight hamstrings as the negative angle clearance underneath the seat is designed to facilitate safe retraction of the feet behind the knees, ensuring the user’s positioning is not dangerously disrupted.

The optional variable angle leg rest can be used to elevate the lower limbs and can assist in the management of oedema.  The inclusion of swivel castors, push handle and sliding footplate facilitate easy mobility and access to other environments within the home or care facility.

The Monaco comes with a standard 500mm seat width, but also comes in a 600mm seat width option.

Features

The Monaco has:

Tilting seat to allow for a safe sitting position and reduce sliding.

Dartex multi stretch pressure management materials throughout all patient contact surfaces. This material is breathable with moisture permeability to ensure that the surface remains dry and comfortable for the user. This material can be wiped down for infection control and hygiene requirements.

Medium to high pressure management cushion, using memory foam. This cushion is removable for cleaning and if you wish to use a different type. An advantage of our memory foam cushions is they do not require maintenance or adjustment for each person, unlike a gel or air cushion. The cushion is also easily replaceable.

Adjustable seat width, elevating leg rest, sliding footrest and seat depth allows the chair to fit the size and requirements of the user.

A light weight frame with directional castors to allow the chair to be easily pushed in a straight line or moved throughout a small room.

Case Studies

Monaco Case Study - Rachel (94yo, Arthritis, History Of Falls)

In this case study, we meet 94-year-old Rachel - an elderly patient who suffers from arthritis, requires significant assistance from caregivers, and has a history of falls. Rachel's existing chair, which was negatively impacting her day-to-day function, was replaced with the Monaco by Seating Matters. We explore the functional and postural changes that resulted from this 'chair swap', and hear directly from both Rachel and her carers. Sometimes a simple change can make all the difference.
